A good jungle route has a purpose that matches your lanes and the information available.

01 / 4

Pick a route with a reason

Junglers earn gold and experience from neutral camps while influencing three lanes. Before the game begins, identify which teammates have useful crowd control and which enemies have escape tools.

Exact camp timings and routes change between patches. Practise with the current game version instead of treating a historical clear as universal.

A successful gank is not only a kill

Forcing Flash, denying minions or allowing an ally to recall can all justify a gank. Repeated failed attempts, however, can surrender camp income.

Watch wave states and enemy positions before revealing yourself. If an opponent is safe under turret, continuing the clear may be the better choice.

After a gank, record what was gained even if there was no kill.

Objective control begins beforehand

A dragon or Baron attempt is safer when nearby lanes can move first, enemies are visible and your team has enough health and damage.

Consider whether your team can retreat if the other jungler arrives. Smites, vision and cooldowns matter as much as the objective's remaining health.

Check adjacent lane priority before starting a neutral objective.

Adapt instead of repeating the same route

Enemy jungle movements and unexpected lane pressure should change your plans. Clearing safely can be better than fighting for an isolated camp.

Review decisions in terms of information available at that moment, not simply the final result.
